First Sadovy Bridge
First Sadovy Bridge crosses the Moika River at one of St. Petersburg's most picturesque spots, beneath the walls of the Mikhailovsky Castle, and between the Summer Gardens, the Mikhailovsky Gardens and the Field of Mars - the name translates as "Garden Bridge". The present single-span metal bridge dates from 1907, replacing a wooden bridge that was on maps from 1716. The beautiful cast-iron railings and ornate lampposts with pike design were added in 1913. The bridge was fully restored in 2002.
