Dekabristov Bridge in St. Petersburg

Dekabristov Bridge carries Ulitsa Dekabristov - Decembrists' Street - across the Kryukov Canal, just behind the Mariinsky Theatre. The first bridge on the site, a three-span wooden bridge with an opening central span, was built here in the 1780s. The current bridge rests on the original piers, but was significantly widened in 1914, when the wooden spans were replaced with a metal frame, and the bridge's attractive and intricate railings were installed. The bridge was completely overhauled in 1990.
