Izmailovsky Bridge
One of seven chain suspension bridges built across the Fontanka River in the 1780s, Izmailovsky Bridge links Voznesensky Prospekt with Izmailovsky Prospekt, named, like the bridge, after the Izmailovsky Regiment, which was once quartered nearby. Izmailovsky Bridge was reconstructed in 1861, when the central opening span and the bridge's original towers were removed and the decorative wrought iron railings were first installed. The bridge offers fine views onto the nearby Trinity Cathedral.
