Second Sadovy Bridge
Just a few meters downstream from the First Sadovy Bridge, and with identical lampposts Second Sadovy Bridge crosses the Moika River between the Field of Mars and the Mikhailovsky Gardens. The first bridge was built here in 1876 to carry the lines for St. Petersburg's horse-drawn trams. The current bridge, of reinforced concrete on granite-faced abutments, was built in 1966-67. Several details were borrowed from older bridges, including the ornate cast-iron railings, and the bridge blends beautifully with the historic surroundings.
