A short walk from Krestovsky Ostrov Metro Station, across the Srednaya Nevka River from Yelagin Island, this charmingly situated eatery describes itself as "a corner of sunny Provence", a claim which it lives up to surprisingly well.
Marseillaise's interiors are bright and elegant, with a number of cute touches that should appeal to children. In general, kids are excellently catered for here, with a large and well equipped playroom and a good children's menu. For adults, the menu is an excellent mixture of classic French dishes and more original creations by a head chef who spent over 20 years in France.
The restaurant has extremely friendly and enthusiastic staff, and organizes a regular program of gastronomic events and children's entertainment. Prices are reasonable, although its worth noting that the wine-list has nothing under $40 a bottle. As that genuinely is the bottom range for decent wine in St. Petersburg, however, it's hardly a criticism.
