The pyshechnaya on Kuznechny Pereulok just steps from the Vladimirskaya metro station is a local favorite for St. Petersburg-style fried donuts topped with powdered sugar. This basement-level bakery has a wide offering of pastries, but their dirt cheap fried donuts are the standout item on the menu. This shop caters almost exclusively to local regular customers, so its donuts are some of the cheapest in the city center. Still, this doesn't mean that this shop sacrifices quality to cut costs. The donuts here are tasty and gooey and can even be topped with melted chocolate for an extra sugar punch. The on-site bakery also sells small pies and other flaky pastries, as well as hot and cold drinks to wash down those tasty fried ringlets.
