You may think your eyes are deceiving you when you enter Surf Coffee, as this small coffee shop on Gorokhovaya Street is more reminiscent of a surf hut on the shores of Maui than a café in northern Russia. With surf and skateboards adorning the bar and brick walls and an abundance of tropical plants scattered around the space, this café is a decidedly hip tribute to the laidback surf community and its one-of-a-kind hang-ten culture. This aura, as well as the ample comfortable seating, makes Surf Coffee an excellent place to relax and enjoy a hot cup of coffee. The boutique café excels in brewing standards like lattes and cappuccinos, but its menu goes well beyond the classics. Surf Coffee has its own take on the up-and-coming matcha green tea latte, as well as a concoction known as the Double Hawaiian, a coffee cocktail made using coconut milk and coconut syrup. Unlike other St. Petersburg coffee shops, Surf Coffee does not have a wide selection of cakes and pastries, but a few healthy sweets are always available at the counter.
