Housed in a charming early 19th-century mansion next to the Kryukov Canal and around ten minutes' walk from the Mariinsky Theatre, the Alexander House is one of the most popular and highly praised small hotels in St. Petersburg, offering individually designed and delightfully fitted accommodation and a friendly family atmosphere. The location is one of the most picturesque in St. Petersburg, but not particularly well served by public transport. »»»

The sister property of the Rocco Forte Astoria Hotel has a history almost as illustrious as its neighbour and enjoys the same fines views across to St. Isaac's Cathedral, as well as the same fast access to Nevsky Prospekt and the majority of St. Petersburg's top downtown attractions. Facilities are shared between the two hotels, with high-class modern meeting space located in the Angleterre. The only difference is that the Angleterre offers smaller, more modest, and somewhat cheaper rooms. »»»

Heavily featured in the international press, this converted communal apartment is more like a bed-and-breakfast or guesthouse in structure, but it rates a classification as deluxe thank to its five spacious and beautifully fitted guest rooms, the extremely warm welcome and efficiency of its expert staff, and a great location only a few minutes' walk from Nevsky Prospekt and St. Isaac's Cathedral. Facilities are limited to a communal lounge, but free refreshments are served all day.

Opened in 2015 on a very pretty side street in the north of St. Petersburg's historic centre, close to the Summer Garden and the Neva River, the Dom Boutique Hotel boasts strikingly fitted accommodation in 60 rooms and suites that fully conform to international 4-star standards. The hotel has a laid-back, residential atmosphere without stinting on standards of service and, while facilities are limited, can also offer an excellent in-house Italian restaurant.

Located next to the Moyka River a few steps west of St. Isaac's Square, this modern design hotel has interiors that will be overly garish for some tastes, but is otherwise an attractive deluxe option, with a good range of facilities for business and leisure, quality on-site dining, and high standards of service. Considering the prime location, close to several of St. Petersburg's finest luxury hotels and within comfortable walking distance of most top attractions, prices are also very reasonable.

This charming and popular small hotel is housed in a beautiful early 19th-century building a few minutes' walk from Nevsky Prospekt and Mayakovskaya Metro Station. Other facilities include a fitness center with pool, and free bicycles for guests.

Located next to the Gostiny Dvor shopping arcade, just off Nevsky Prospekt and a few steps from the metro, this new deluxe hotel more or less lives up to its grandiose title, offering 74 guest rooms fitted in a lavishly eclectic style and featuring a full range of deluxe amenities (some en suite bathrooms even have Jacuzzi and infrared sauna). Facilities are limited to two meeting venues, but the Majestic Boutique Hotel is located above a popular restaurant and gastropub.

A modern deluxe property with stylish contemporary architecture, a pretty parkland setting, and excellent business and leisure amenities, the Parklane is located on Krestovsky Island, convenient for St. Petersburg's new international soccer stadium. It's also remarkably easy to reach the downtown, with Krestovsky Ostrov metro less than ten minutes' walk away. Of the increasing number of hotels on the island, this brand-new property is currently the best.

The main selling point of the Petro Palace Hotel is its superb location in a historic building on Malaya Morskaya Ulitsa, only a few steps from Nevsky Prospekt, the Hermitage, and St. Isaac's Cathedral. Boasting a beautiful location just off St. Isaac's Square, the Renaissance St. Petersburg Baltic is now among the older generation of international 5-star properties in St. Petersburg, and has been surpassed in recent years by more opulent newcomers nearby. Nonetheless, it provides a full range of five-star services for business and leisure, as well as comfortable if uninspiring accommodation and a restaurant with spectacular rooftop views.

This all-suite boutique hotel on Vasilevskiy Island is housed in a recently reconstructed 18th century building, and boasts ornate interiors and fantastic views from many rooms across the Neva River. The 21 opulently decorated accommodations are all suites, and facilities are limited to a restaurant and small Spa. The Trezzini Palace's location is particularly picturesque, but not particularly convenient for public transport or most sightseeing.
