A very practical standard hotel with great central location...
This is a very practical hotel with central location. Rooms (the more junior ones) are clean with simple decor, but come with some unexpected perks as heated floors and free use of gym and sauna. Wi-Fi was still a little patchy when I stayed in March 2012 (I had to ask specifically for room with Wi-Fi), but they were very keen to cover the whole hotel by the summer. The Hermitage and St. Isaac's were 2 metro/subway stops or a short bus ride away, which was very reasonable. A metro station was just next-door. Dostoevsky museum was across the square only to justify the name of the hotel. :) The food was good, but not exceptional, so except for a daily breakfast I only ate at the hotel once or twice. I found plenty of restaurants in the area, especially on a parallel street, behind the hotel. All in all it was a nice stay and I am likely to come again. In retrospect, if I were to come in the summer, I would opt for a suite on the front of the hotel to get a cathedral view...
