The Holiday Inn Moskovskye Vorota is located on Moskovsky Prospekt, St. Petersburg's main southbound avenue that further out becomes the highway to Moscow. Most of Moskovsky Prospekt was developed immediately after the Second World War, and it features some of the most impressive Stalinist neoclassical architecture in the city.The nearest metro station, Moskovskye Vorota, is only 200m from the hotel. From there it is only four stops north to Nevsky Prospekt, the station for many of St. Petersburg's most popular visitor attractions, including the Hermitage, the Russian Museum, St. Isaac's Cathdral, and the Church of Our Saviour on the Spilled Blood.
The closest mainline station to the Holiday Inn is Vitebsk Station, under 10 minutes' drive away, which serves trains to Belarus and the Baltic States, as well as suburban trains to Pushkin (Tsarskoye Selo) and Pavlovsk. Moscow Station can be reached in around 20 minutes by car, while Ladoga and Finland Stations are at least 30 minutes' drive from the hotel.
Pulkovo International Airport is 9km from the Holiday Inn Moskovskye Vorota. The drive can take as little as 20 minutes with clear roads, and up to one hour at peak times.
Local Sightseeing
Although the Holiday Inn Moskovskye Vorota is outside the main sightseeing district of St. Petersburg, there are a few monuments and visitor attractions in the immediate vicinity.Just a few steps from the hotel, the magnificent Moscow Triumphal Gates were erected in 1838 to commemorate the Russian victory in the Russo-Turkish War a decade earlier. Designed by renowned neoclassical architect Vasily Stasov, they once marked the southern boundary of the city.
The hotel is also very conveniently located for guests wishing to visit the famous Imperial estates at Pushkin (Tsarskoye Selo) and Pavlovsk. Minibuses run from Moskovskaya Metro Station, three stops south of Moskovskye Vorota, to both towns, and the journey to Pushkin can take as little as 30 minutes.
