The Nevsky Express Hotel is located in the historic center of St. Petersburg on Nevsky Prospekt, the city's celebrated central avenue. The hotel is only a couple of minutes' walk from Moskovsky Station, making it particularly convenient for visitors from the Russian capital. Ploshchad Vosstaniya Metro Station is also only 100m from the Nevsky Express, giving fast and easy access to every corner of the city. Pulkovo International Airport is around 17km from the hotel, and can be reached by car in 40 to 60 minutes.

Local Sightseeing

Ploschad Vosstaniya, which is a few steps from the Nevsky Express, is home to a monument to Leningrad the "hero city" - the highest Soviet state award given to cities for heroism and courage during the Second World War. In Leningrad's case, this was for surviving nearly three years of appalling hardship and suffering during the infamous Siege of Leningrad.

The Alexander Nevsky Monastery, at the far end of Nevsky Prospekt, is a short walk from the hotel. The monastery is named in honor of one of the city's patron saints, the defender of the Russian lands in the 13th century. Founded by Peter the Great in 1713, it contains an Orthodox seminary, the splendid Troitsky Cathedral and two memorial cemeteries where several famous people are buried, including Dostoevsky, Glinka, Tchaikovsky and Mussorgsky.

The Museum of the Arctic and Antarctic is about 10 minutes' walk from the hotel. This is the only museum of its type in Russia and one of major museums of polar exploration in the world. It is home to 75,000 items dating from the 16th century to the present day.
