Radisson Royal Hotel

Nearest metro: Gostiny Dvor, Nevsky prospekt

Although it's a fair walk away from the Hermitage, St. Isaac's Cathedral and St. Petersburg's most famous tourist attractions, the Radisson Royal Hotel is still in the very heart of St. Petersburg, at the crossroads of the city's two most famous roads Nevsky Prospekt and Vladimirskiy Prospekt.

There are four metro stations Mayakovskaya, Ploshchad Vosstaniya, Vladimirskaya and Dostoevskaya in close proximity to the Radisson. There are also a number of bus services running along Nevsky Prospekt, making the whole of the city easily accessible from the Radisson. Pulkovo-1 and Pulkovo-2 Airports are about 17 kilometers from the Radisson, and can be reached by car in under 40 minutes. The Moscow Station is ten minutes' walk from the hotel, and all other mainline stations are within 30 minutes' drive.

Local Sightseeing

Only five minutes' walk from the Radisson Royal Hotel, the Anchikov Bridge marks the point where Nevsky Prospekt crosses the Fontanka River. Famous for its four bronze equestrian statues, sculpted in the 1840s by Pyotr Klodt, the bridge is one of the most oft-photographed structures in the city. The bridge is flanked by palaces, of which the most striking is undoubtedly the Rococo Beloselsky-Belozersky Palace, which dates from the mid-nineteenth century, and now houses the city's Tourist Information Office.

Further down Nevsky Prospekt, the Aleksandrinsky Theatre, Saint Petersburg's most famous dramatic theatre, has been working since the mid-eighteenth century. The theatre's fine building was designed by famous local architect Carlo Rossi, and witnessed the premieres of Gogol's Government Inspector, and Chekhov's The Seagull.

Not far from the Aleksandrinsky Theater, the Gostiny Dvor shopping arcade was built in the eighteenth century as the central trading post of St. Petersburg. It now contains some of the smartest outlets in the city, as well as a number of cafes and souvenir boutiques dotted around its vast interior.
