Monument to Admiral von Bellingshausen
Admiral Fabian Gottlieb von Bellingshausen, in whose honour the Bellingshausen Sea in the Southern Ocean is named, was an Imperial Russian Naval commander, cartographer, and explorer who participated in von Krusenstern's first Russian circumnavigation of the world and led a second circumnavigation (1819-1821) which discovered the continent of Antarctica.

Located in the Summer Garden in Kronshtadt, the historic home of the Russian fleet, this monument from 1817 was designed by the renowned sculptor Ivan Shreder, and paid for, as was often the case in the 19th century, by contributions from well-wishers among the Russian fleet and the general public.
