Sigmund Freud Dream Museum
Occupying two rooms in St. Petersburg's Eastern European Institute of Psychoanalysis (to find the museum, it is necessary to walk into the Institute's courtyard and turn left), the Sigmund Freud Dream Museum is an entertaining curiosity that explores Freud's work and theories of the subconscious in two stylish installations.
The first hall of the museum is devoted to the twelve stages of personality development according to Freud, each of which is illustrated with text, photography, and paintings based on Freud's dreams. The second hall is an attempt to simulate the subconscious using images, audio material, and snippets of Freud's texts. For anyone interested in psychoanalysis, the Freud Dream Museum is a worthwhile detour on the Petrograd Side.
