Sova Art Gallery

This extremely friendly gallery is located in one of St. Petersburg's most picturesque corners, close to the major visitor attractions on Vasilievsky Island. Sova Art features painting and graphic works by St. Petersburg/Leningrad artists from the 1950s up to the present day, with particular emphasis on "unofficial" artists of the Soviet period.

Run by a married couple of collectors, this homely gallery was founded on a shared love of contemporary Russian art and personal friendships with local artists. Although it is far from the richest gallery in St. Petersburg and can only be visited by appointment, Sova Art has much to recommend it, particularly for more amateur art collectors who would like a gentle introduction to the Petersburg art market.
