This large market close to the historic sights of Vasilevsky Island is not among the best in St. Petersburg for food shopping, with a somewhat desultory selection fresh produce, meat, fish, and sundries. Of greater interest to visitors is the 19th century market building (better known as Andreevsky Market), as well as the annual fairs and competitions that are held here during the Christmas season.
