This general tour of St. Petersburg introduces visitors to all of the main attractions and landmarks in the historic downtown, and can serve equally effectively as a full program for travelers who have only a single day for sightseeing, or as an introductory tour for those who will then have more time to explore St. Petersburg in greater depth.
The itinerary begins with a city bus tour, taking the main sights of Nevsky Prospekt and the Neva River embankments, with halts to look inside the Peter and Paul Fortress and St. Isaac's Cathedral. Then, after lunch, visitors will take a cruise on St. Petersburg's central rivers and canals, followed by a visit to the State Hermitage Museum, finishing in good time to enjoy a range of evening activities and entertainments if they desire.

City orientation tour with Peter and Paul Fortress and St. Isaac's Cathedral
This tour gives your guide the opportunity to introduce you to St. Petersburg, giving an overview of the city's fascinating history and culture, while also showing you the main landmarks of Nevsky Prospekt and the Neva River embankments. The tour halts for brief visits inside the Peter and Paul Fortress, the magnificent island fortress founded by Peter the Great, and St. Isaac's Cathedral, St. Petersburg's largest church and the life's work of French architect Auguste de Montferrand.

Canal tour
This hour-long boat trip along the central rivers and canals of St. Petersburg is a great way to see the city from a different perspective, including the palace-lined embankments of the Moyka and Fontanka Rivers and the famous bascule bridges across the Neva River, as well as new vistas on the Winter Palace and the Peter and Paul Fortress.

Visit to the State Hermitage Museum
St. Petersburg's top visitor attraction, the Hermitage is one of the world's greatest museums of art and culture. In this three-hour tour, you will get to see the spectacularly ornate state rooms of the Winter Palace and the collection of Western European art up to the 18th century, including masterpieces by Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo, Rubens, Rembrandt, Caravaggio and Poussin, to name but a few. You will then cross palace square to the General Staff Building to see what most visitors consider the true highlights of the Hermitage's art collections, the works of the impressionists and post-impressionists, including Matisse, Monet, Gaugin and Picasso.
