Nearest metro: Admiralteyskaya
Nearest metro: Gostiny Dvor, Nevsky prospekt (not walkable)The History Hotel has a uniquely attractive location on the Angliyskaya Naberezhnaya (English Embankment) of the mighty Neva River. Major attractions including the Bronze Horseman, St. Isaacs Cathedral, Nikolayevsky Palace, Yusupov Palace and Mariinsky Theater are just a few hundred yards away. There are several good restaurants on the English Embankment and the parallel Konnogvardeisky Boulevard, while there are cafes and some grocery shopping on Ploschad Truda.
This part of the historic center is not particularly well served by public transport, however there is a public transport stop on the neighboring Ploschad Truda (Labour Square), where one can take a trolleybus or bus to the Nevsky Prospekt – the main avenue of the city – or to Vasilyesky Island. The nearest metro station, Nevsky Prospekt, can be reached by 12-15 minute bus ride or a 30 minute walk. Moskovsky Station is just over 4 km away down Nevsky Prospekt, and can be reached by car in around 25 minutes. Other mainline stations are a little further afield, but journeys should take no longer than 40-45 minutes, except the Ladozhsly Station which may take a little longer during rush hour traffic congestion. Pulkovo International Airport (terminals 1 – Domestic – and 2 – International) is about 17 km south of the city center, and guest should allow at least one hour for the drive, particularly at peak times.
